In line with “Setting the Table” Guidelines* we offer a healthy and varied snack. Fruit and vegetables accompany each daily snack with our snack menu being displayed in the entrance vestibule and snack name board in the hall. Snack examples; toast, cereal, playgroup made (made by the children) cakes and bakes, cheese and crackers, pitta breads and dips. Children are encouraged to select their snack independently and are involved in deciding what we have for snack.

As a setting we celebrate a range of religious and cultural festivities which are incorporated into our snack planning; Pancake Day, Robert Burns Day, Chinese New Year, Christmas and other cultural events. If you would like us to celebrate an important date in your own child’s culture and calendar please let staff know.


Should your child’s Birthday fall within term time we are happy to receive a commercially purchased* cake to help celebrate the occasion. Please advise staff prior to the birthday so that snack menus may be adjusted.
* This ensures we can monitor the ingredients to take into account children’s allergies or intolerances.

Allergies/Food Intolerances

Please let staff know, as soon as possible, if your child has an allergy or food intolerance. Our staff can support and adapt snack planning and menus to incorporate needs and requirements.

 A choice of milk or water is available to drink, with the children being encouraged to pour independently.
